Baxter

For our first post we will start off with our first picture of our first journey. We attempted to avoid the ice storm threatening the DFW area by driving away from it, which was a successful idea. Since we didn’t want to travel too far and because we were getting a late start we decided to venture to Baxter, Texas, a ghost town…. I guess. What we found was a lot of nothing, pretty nothing but sadly Casper was not there to greet us.

Downtown Baxter

As flourishing a city as Baxter appeared to be, we stopped to take note of the bustling downtown area before moving on to explore the local house of worship.

This beautiful old church was kind enough to provide us information of its rich history on a lovely bullet riddled sign, sadly there was no information about the bullet holes, but to make this trip interesting I am going to claim that bank robbers once used it as a hide out and that there might be treasure hidden under creaky floor boards under a giant cross that has been the starting place of many happy marriages.

Despite the lack of spooks in the area, Baxter was beautiful, it was vibrant with red colors and provided enough empty houses for us to fake some spooky pictures to make it look as if there might be an area full of forbidding empty buildings.
